Africa World Airlines begins Accra-Ouagadougou route

Africa World Airlines (AWA) has officially launched a new direct flight route between Accra, Ghana and Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, marking a significant step in its expansion into the Sahel region.

The inaugural flight was marked by a brief ceremony at the Kotoka International Airport, attended by the Founder of AWA, Togbe Afede XIV, Minister of Roads and Highways Governs Kwame Agbodza, and Burkina Faso’s Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. David Kabre.

In his address, Togbe Afede XIV praised the airline’s performance, stating:
“Our safety record is great. Our reliability is great, and that’s the kind of tradition we expect to continue—the service we want to offer our friends from Burkina Faso.”

He also expressed optimism that the new route would become a gateway for linking AWA to the rest of Africa through Burkina Faso.

Responding to concerns about ticket prices, especially in light of the recent appreciation of the Ghana cedi, he assured the public that adjustments will be made in due course.

On his part, Ambassador David Kabre expressed gratitude to AWA for opening the new route to Ouagadougou, noting that it would help strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and Burkina Faso.

Meanwhile, Minister of Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, highlighted the positive impact of the new route, noting it would ease commuting and reduce travel-related stress. He also commended Africa World Airlines for the initiative.
