Deputy Minister-Designate for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey

Deputy Minister-Designate for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has pledged her commitment to supporting national efforts to reduce road accidents if confirmed for the role.

Appearing before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, Ms. Affo-Toffey outlined several strategies she intends to pursue in collaboration with the sector Minister to improve road safety.

She identified public education, enhanced emergency response systems, better road signage, and the use of technology to monitor speeding as key priorities.

“If approved, I will work closely with the Minister to implement measures that reduce accidents—through public awareness campaigns, effective emergency systems, clear road signage, and speed-detecting cameras,” she said.

She also stressed the need to enforce existing traffic laws and strengthen them where necessary to promote compliance and protect lives.
