Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has alleged that the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, is being detained by the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) without any formal interrogation.
Speaking to the media after joining Abronye in court on Friday, Afenyo-Markin claimed that although the police insist the NPP chairman is being questioned, independent checks by his team suggest otherwise.
The Effutu Member of Parliament described the development as a violation of Abronye’s fundamental human rights and accused the authorities of using the courts to legitimize his continued detention.
He also raised concerns about what he termed selective justice, revealing that despite officially reporting an alleged death threat made against him by Alhaji Sofo Azorka, no action has been taken by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
