Speaking on the Ultimate Sports Morning show on Asempa FM, the former Ankaragucu player explained that, the continental showpiece is a big platform and for that matter, a team competing for the trophy needs experienced players.

Arhinful believes that though Ghana has goal scorers like Caleb Ekuban, Richmond Boakye Yiadom, Jordan Ayew, a personality like Asamoah Gyan cannot be dropped because of his experience.

“Our captain should definitely be part of the team; I think we need his experience. Many people are saying that he hasn’t gotten playing time enough but what we have to know is that, it is 23 players; so when he is part, it’s positive,” he explained.

“At any time whether he will start or come from the bench, his experience can always count and we should not take out experience at all in a tournament like that,” he added.

Kwesi Appiah will settle on his final 23-man squad for the tournament in Egypt after two friendlies- one against South Africa and the second with a yet-to-be-named opponent.
