AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has expressed high hopes for Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Semenyo, who recently extended his contract with the Cherries until 2030 despite interest from several clubs, emerged as one of the standout performers last season.

The 24-year-old netted 13 goals and provided five assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

Speaking to the media ahead of the new campaign, Iraola praised Semenyo’s development and emphasised his growing importance to the team.

“Antoine is someone who has progressed a lot — not just last year, but over the past two years that I’ve been here with him. He started in the lower divisions, got to the Premier League, improved every season, played more, had better stats, and became more important for the team. I hope he can continue this progression,” Iraola said.

The Spanish coach also believes Semenyo’s experience could translate into leadership both on and off the field.

“I hope he can continue this progression and even help us with his experience. I hope he can offer us some leadership. If he keeps playing the way he did last season — not just with his numbers, but with the work he does for the team — he’ll remain a key player for us,” he added.

Semenyo has also been in fine form during pre-season and will aim to carry that momentum into Bournemouth’s opening fixture against Liverpool.
