Aduana FC General Manager Takyi Arhin has backed Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku to remain in office, saying he will support his bid for a third term.
Okraku has faced growing calls to resign following a string of disappointing results by Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars.
Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and have endured a difficult start to their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.
The Black Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Côte d’Ivoire before losing 4-2 to The Gambia, leaving them bottom of Group C without a point from their opening two matches.
Ghana’s struggles have also extended to the youth teams, with the country missing out on qualification for several recent FIFA youth World Cup tournaments.
Despite the criticism directed at the GFA leadership, Arhin, popularly known as “Thunder”, has dismissed calls for Okraku to step down and pledged his backing for another term.
“Anyone who wants to contest Kurt Okraku is welcome, but I can assure you that it’ll be an exercise in futility,” Arhin told Sporty FM.
“If Kurt Okraku decides to contest, I’ll support his third-term bid. I even want more people to join the race, so they’ll lose their votes.
“A lot of people are sitting on the fence, waiting for Kurt Okraku to fail so that they jump in.
“I just want to tell them that if they’ve not joined us, they’ll sit on the fence till thy kingdom come.”
Okraku was first elected GFA president in October 2019 and secured a second term in 2023.
