The management of Kwahu Ridge Senior High Technical School(SHTS) has recalled a 14-year-old girl who was earlier denied admission after her father, Gideon Kissi, went public with the incident.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Kissi expressed relief and gratitude after the school’s headmaster intervened and apologised for the misunderstanding.
According to him, the headmaster revealed that the female teacher who inspected his daughter’s items and turned them away had no authority to make such a decision and had acted without consultation.
“The headmaster called us back and asked us to bring my daughter. He and some teachers apologised, though the female teacher didn’t. She was rather angry that the matter had reached the media,” Mr. Kissi recounted to host Abena Opokua Ahwenee.
He added that the headmaster has since assured him of his full support, even promising to personally drive the girl to the hospital if she experiences any health crisis.
“My daughter is now happy and in high spirits after hearing the good news,” he said, praising the headmaster’s compassion and leadership.
The incident gained public attention after reports emerged that the student was turned away from Kwahu Ridge SHTS despite meeting the admission requirements.
The development drew criticism from sections of the public, prompting school authorities to review the case.
Following the headmaster’s intervention and apology, Mr. Kissi says they have accepted the school’s assurance and are hopeful the girl can now focus on her education in a supportive environment.
