Adansi North to roll out digital revenue collection system to boost local economy

-

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Adansi North, Charles Kofi Ogbeh, popularly known as Sir Charles, has announced plans by the assembly to introduce a digital revenue collection system to enhance revenue mobilisation and strengthen the local economy.

Speaking after the second session of the Adansi North District Assembly meeting at Fomena in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Ogbeh said the initiative forms part of efforts to improve efficiency and transparency in local revenue collection.

He noted that although the district currently generates about GH¢1.12 million, there is potential to significantly increase that amount with more effective systems in place.

“Per the standard of our district, the current revenue is encouraging, but we can do more. The education process has already begun, and we’ll soon hit the ground running,” he stated.

The DCE revealed that the assembly is collaborating with a software developer to generate QR codes for every household to simplify the collection of property rates and other local taxes.

He expressed confidence that the digital system will help reduce leakages, improve accountability, and support the assembly’s broader goal of promoting sustainable development across the district.
