The Adansi North District Assembly in the Ashanti Region has rolled out a support package for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the district, covering education, healthcare, health insurance registration, and vocational training.
The initiative, aimed at improving the living conditions of beneficiaries, was announced during a presentation ceremony in the district.
District Chief Executive (DCE), Charles Kofi Ogbeh, popularly known as Sir Charles, disclosed that three of the beneficiaries are currently pursuing tertiary education, while others are receiving assistance in healthcare and skills development. He explained that the goal is to empower PWDs to reduce dependency on families and society.
Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the intervention. One student said the educational support would go a long way in shaping her academic journey, while another beneficiary noted that the skills training would enhance their ability to manage daily activities and create sustainable livelihoods.
The DCE assured that the Assembly will continue to prioritize the welfare of persons with disabilities by promoting inclusivity and sustainable support systems.
