Residents of Adansi Anhwiaso in the Adansi Asokwa District of the Ashanti Region have mobilised funds to construct a police station to enhance security in the community.
The initiative was unveiled during a homecoming ceremony organised to raise money for the project, which seeks to strengthen the presence of law enforcement and improve the safety of residents.
Speaking to Adom News, the Assembly Member for the Adansi Anhwiaso Electoral Area, Richard Kwadwo Abroquah, disclosed that the previous police station collapsed several years ago and has not been reconstructed since. He said the community has therefore resolved to raise funds to build a new facility to restore and improve security.
Mr Abroquah explained that the police station would also help curb drug abuse and other social vices among the youth, which are negatively affecting the community’s future. He appealed to stakeholders, philanthropists and government agencies to support the project to enable construction to commence.
Some opinion leaders in Anhwiaso also drew attention to other pressing challenges confronting the community, including the absence of a hospital and a senior high school. They stressed that security remains essential to everyday life, hence the decision to prioritise the construction of a police station.
One of the leaders further urged the youth to ignore rumours suggesting they are the reason for the project, stressing that the initiative is purely aimed at ensuring peace, safety and overall development in the community.
