The Chief Executive Officer of Adamus Resources Ltd., Angela List, has denied what she describes as “false and malicious” allegations of fraud and regulatory misconduct reportedly filed against her and others by one Michael Benziecie.
In a press statement released on Wednesday, Madam List flatly rejected claims that she and other individuals, specifically Martin Kwaku Ayisi, CEO of the Minerals Commission, and Rebecca Donkor, engaged in fraudulent conduct or violated Ghana’s mining regulations. She said the allegations are “entirely without merit or evidence.”
According to Madam List, neither she nor the other parties mentioned have been contacted by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), which Benziecie is said to have complained to.
“These baseless claims… are part of a broader smear campaign intended to distract from the illegal activities of the complainant,” she asserted.
She alleged that Benziecie had been conducting unauthorised and unlicensed operations within Adamus Resources’ concession until a recent crackdown by state security personnel.
“His activities have caused significant environmental and operational damage,” the Adamus Resources CEO claimed.
Adamus Resources, a major player in Ghana’s gold mining sector, says it operates strictly within the bounds of the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703), and the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1994 (Act 490).
Madam List dismissed any notion of her company enabling illegal mining or soliciting payments as “deeply offensive and entirely untrue.”
Calling for a full investigation, the CEO said she welcomes EOCO’s intervention to expose what she termed, adding that the statement is issued without prejudice to her legal rights and defences.
