The headteacher of Acherensua Presbyterian Basic School in the Ahafo Region, Richard Gyamfi, has raised serious concerns about the poor state of the school’s classroom buildings, which he says is affecting academic activities.
Speaking to Adom News, Mr Gyamfi explained that the walls and roofs of the classrooms are in terrible condition, and each time it rains, the classrooms become flooded.
He noted that the deteriorating infrastructure has led to a sharp decline in enrolment, as many parents fear for the safety of their children.
Mr Gyamfi shared his concerns during a visit by the Asutifi South District Chief Executive (DCE), Benjamin Assabil Donkor.
After assessing the situation firsthand, the DCE pledged to urgently address the challenges to prevent any potential disaster.
Mr Donkor expressed shock that the school’s deplorable condition had been left unattended for years, despite its impact on teaching and learning.
