The Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, says all funds required for the construction of the new Accra-Kumasi Expressway will be ready by the close of this year.
This follows the clearance of 170 kilometres of the right-of-way for the project.
Reacting to the development in a post on X, Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, described the project as a major milestone in Ghana’s infrastructure development.
According to him, two key developments stem from the financing arrangements for the project.
“With 170km cleared for the new Accra-Kumasi Expressway, Minister for Finance says ALL funds for the project will be ready by close of this year.
“Two things flow from this.
“1. It will be the single largest piece of infrastructure built by any Ghanaian government.
“2. It will be the first time in Ghana’s history that a project of this scale and magnitude is being funded fully with our own funds and without reliance on some external assistance.
“President Mahama is the man!” he stated.
