Abuakwa South MP launches 2025 Akosua Agyeiwaa Memorial Teacher Awards

-

The Office of the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, in partnership with the Municipal Education Directorate, has opened nominations for the 2025 edition of the Akosua Agyeiwaa Memorial Teacher Awards.

The initiative aims to spotlight hardworking teachers and institutions whose efforts continue to lift academic standards across the municipality.

Announcing the call on November 14, organisers explained that the awards are designed to honour individuals whose commitment to teaching, mentorship and community engagement has left a lasting mark on learners at all levels.

The scheme is open to all licensed educators in the pre-tertiary sector—public or private—who have served continuously in the municipality for at least two years.

Officials say the award categories capture the breadth of work teachers carry out daily: from exceptional classroom instruction and curriculum innovation to administrative leadership and service in hard-to-reach communities. Schools will also be recognised, with competitive categories for high-performing basic, JHS, SHS and TVET institutions.

Nominations may be filed by teachers themselves or submitted on their behalf by colleagues, PTAs, School Management Committees and community-based organisations. Application forms can be picked up at the Municipal Education Office in Kibi or downloaded via a QR code provided by organisers.

Completed forms must be submitted to the Municipal Director of Education, along with relevant supporting documents, by Friday, November 28, 2025.

Winners will receive a wide range of prizes, including refrigerators, freezers, microwaves, toasters, television sets, motorbikes, laptops, cash awards, pieces of cloth and certificates.

Dr. Michael Darko, Research Assistant to the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, signed the announcement, noting that the awards serve as a lasting tribute to Akosua Agyeiwaa and her passion for quality education in the municipality.
