Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko, George Amoako has revealed that the absence of the Ghana Premier League was their biggest challenge so far as their 2018/19 African Campaign is concerned.

According to the CEO, the absence of the league coupled with lack of competitive matches, forced them to sign eleven new players which also became a hard nut to crack since C.K Akunnor who is the head of the technical department of the team had to do a lot of premeditations to get his team.

“The absence of the league was a challenge from the beginning especially for the technical side; and for that matter, the coach had to do a lot of premeditations but how do you do this without competitive matches?” he quizzed.

Following the ongoing reformation in Ghana Football, the Normalization Committee in a meeting with the clubs decided to bar clubs from playing in the continent’s inter-clubs competition, but Kotoko were allowed to represent Ghana in the Confederations Cup by petitioning against the decision by referencing CAF’s inter-club regulations.

The Porcupine Warriors have qualified to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time since 2008 after beating Cameroonian side Coton Sport 2-1 in Kumasi to complete a 5-3 aggregate victory.
