The Queen Mother of Akyem Kotoku Abodom near Akyem Abirem in the Birim North Municipality of the Eastern Region, Nana Amoatemaa Agyeiwaa I, has raised alarm over escalating hooliganism in the community, accusing unidentified groups of terrorising residents, particularly women and children.

According to her, the situation has created widespread fear, with many residents unable to go about their daily activities. She is therefore calling on the police and other security agencies to intervene immediately to restore calm and protect lives and property.

Speaking on the matter, the Queen Mother noted that the persistent attacks have left vulnerable groups living in constant anxiety, as hooligans continue to disrupt normal life in the area.

She further highlighted the lack of basic amenities such as potable water, good roads, and a functional CHPS compound, stressing that these challenges continue to worsen living conditions in the community.

Nana Amoatemaa Agyeiwaa I attributed the unrest partly to an ongoing chieftaincy dispute and urged the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Council to take swift steps to resolve the matter and bring lasting peace.

Meanwhile, some residents, particularly women, say the situation is deteriorating, alleging that the hooligans frequently fire gunshots at dawn and late at night, sparking panic across the community.

They have appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, the Regional Security Council, and other relevant authorities to act urgently to end the attacks.
