Ablekuma North rerun: NPP Deputy National Organiser brutally assaulted

The Deputy National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah, was brutally assaulted at the St. Peter’s Polling Station in Odorkor, located in the Ablekuma North constituency.

The incident occurred during Friday’s parliamentary rerun across 19 polling stations, when chaos broke out.

Tensions flared at the St. Peter’s polling station after a group of unidentified individuals stormed the venue and attacked several people believed to be affiliated with the NPP.

A viral video circulating on social media captured the violent assault on Mr. Asamoah, allegedly carried out by individuals linked to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The incident disrupted the voting process and caused panic among voters and election officials.

In the footage, Mr. Asamoah is seen attempting to flee but is quickly overpowered, pinned to the ground, and subjected to repeated punches and kicks.

NPP parliamentary candidate Nana Akua Afriyie and former Fisheries Minister Mavis Hawa Koomson were also targeted during the chaos.
