Musician Agbeko, best known for his hit song “Wototome,” has shared a heartbreaking account of how a romantic relationship led him into drug addiction and nearly ruined his career.
Speaking in an emotional interview on Hitz FM, Agbeko revealed that his addiction began after meeting a young woman at a show he performed at on Osu Oxford Street.
What started as a casual friendship soon developed into a relationship that exposed him to substance abuse.
“I met a female friend after performing at a show at Oxford Street. She later became my girlfriend, and she was the one who introduced me to drugs,” he recounted.
“She wasn’t from here; she lived in the UK, but her father brought her back because of her addiction. Unfortunately, instead of her changing, I also got hooked.”
Agbeko became emotional as he described how his life spiraled out of control — battling memory loss, losing focus, and struggling to sustain his music career.
“There were times I couldn’t even remember my own lyrics. I lost focus, friends, and everything I had worked for,” he lamented.
At one point, the singer revealed, he resorted to selling clothes on the streets just to survive.
Now on the road to recovery, Agbeko says he is grateful for a second chance and hopes that his story will serve as a cautionary tale to others battling similar temptations.
