The police at Winneba in the Central region have arrested a notorious armed robber and his gang.
The robber Osmanu Ibrahim, 22, who has been under police surveillance for over a year now is seen by the police as the face behind the numerous robbery attacks in the area.
He is said to be terrorising students of the University of Education and others in the area robbing them of their valuables.
He and his gang were arrested at the Winneba Zongo by the police following a tip off.
Many items were found in the possession of the nine robbers during the swoop. It includes laptops, television sets, mobile phones, decoders, cocoa spraying machines, money, tools they use for the operation and other items.
Some substances suspected to be cocaine and marijuana were also found on them.
Some other individuals suspected to be engaged in criminal activities in the area were also rounded up by the police in the swoop Sunday.
The Assin Fosu divisional police commander, Chief Supt. Henry Bacho who confirmed the news to Adom News’ Alfred Amoh advised the public to volunteer information to the police so that all criminals in the area will be arrested to make the place more congenial for habitation.
Chief Supt. Henry Bacho said informants will be protected and so the public should not be afraid to step out to provide vital information to the police.
