A boy’s dormitory of the Asuom Senior High School (SHS) in the Kwaebibirm district of the eastern region has been destroyed by fire, Sunday morning.
The fire started around 7am when students were at church service, destroying several properties belonging to the male students.
In all, three rooms were affected by the fire. Properties in one of the rooms were completely consumed by the fire.
A teacher of the school who doubles as assembly man for the area said he first noticed smoke billowing from one of the rooms which is very close to his residence.
According to Abrefa Busia, students were called to help salvage the situation while they await for personnel of the Ghana fire service.
He laments however, students,teachers and good Samaritans had to leave the scene due to the ferocious nature of the fire.
Abrefa Busia said it took fire fighters who arrived on time to put out the consuming fire.

Asuom Senior High School already has been left behind in terms of infrastructural development to aid academic excellence despite its vast land area occupancy. Their home economics lab has been abandoned for more than a decade now. Nonetheless, the schools has been contributing a lot to the developments of mother Ghana by producing innovational thinkers and game changers every academic year.
If governments have been doing very little to help uplift the image of the school, it is high time gallant men and women around the globe ever produced by the school come on board to give back to their ALMA MATER, for duty is calling…..
