Rapper Medikal has recounted a frightening experience that nearly cost him his life after visiting his girlfriend at her home in Oyarifa.

He described the incident as a true story from his personal life, saying he decided to share it despite its emotional weight because he believes young men can learn from what happened to him.

According to Medikal, the trouble began after the woman he had started dating repeatedly urged him to visit her. He eventually accepted the invitation one afternoon and went to her residence in Oyarifa.

He said they were in the room when a loud bang suddenly interrupted their moment. Before he could fully process what was happening, the door flung open and a large man entered, immediately demanding to know what he was doing there.

Medikal recalled that the encounter became even more frightening when the man reached to his side and pulled out a gun, which the rapper believed could have been a 9mm pistol.

“I immediately went into humble mode and raised my hands up in the air. He ordered me to kneel I kept on apologizing while he was shouting and exerting his authority over me. I tried to explain that I had no idea the woman was involved with someone else, but he asked me who I thought had rented the room for her.”

In that moment, Medikal said he was overwhelmed by fear, with thoughts of his life flashing before his eyes as he contemplated how badly the encounter could end.

“I was just a young man trying to make something of my life and I suddenly found myself face to face with death. At that point all I was thinking is that it will take the grace of God to save me from the situation”.

Rather, his saving grace came from his mother who repeatedly buzzed his phone, causing the gunned man to free him.

Looking back on the experience, Medikal urged young men to be careful when visiting women at their homes, particularly when they do not know who arranged or paid for the accommodation.

He also admonished women to be particularly vigilant when paying visits to their romantic partners as a slight unforeseen circumstance could be the thin line between life and death.
