The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) will start 24-hour services at its Kumasi and Takoradi offices in January 2027.

The Chief Executive Officer, Julius Neequaye Kotey, announced this on Eyewitness News on Monday, October 12, 2026. He said the authority is reviewing its offices to find out which ones can run around the clock.

“Currently, we are doing about 14 offices. When we check the books, it will speak to us,” he said, adding that the rollout will depend on how each office performs.

Mr Kotey named Kumasi and Takoradi as the offices ready for the change.

“Kumasi and Takoradi, they qualify for 24 hours. So in January, they all start 24 hours,” he said.

The DVLA already runs 24-hour services at its Adenta office and at the Tema Port branch. Mr Kotey said the Tema Port office is open to the general public even though it sits inside the port area.

The authority has also extended opening hours at its regional offices, which he said now serve customers from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

He said the move fits the government’s 24-hour economy agenda, which aims to encourage economic activity and service delivery beyond the normal working day.
