The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), in collaboration with other security and regulatory agencies, has supervised the disposal of a 40-foot container of non-compliant diapers imported from Spain to prevent the products from entering the Ghanaian market.
The container, which contained loose, unpackaged and unhygienic bale diapers, was destroyed at the Vigour Safe Disposal Site at Shai Hills.

The shipment was intercepted during a joint inspection at the Tema Port involving the FDA, the Ghana Revenue Authority’s Customs Division and National Security.
The FDA said the disposal was carried out at the importer’s expense, alongside applicable statutory fines.

The authority has urged importers to obtain all required FDA approvals before importing products into the country to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and protect public health.
The operation forms part of efforts by regulatory and security agencies to prevent non-compliant products from reaching consumers.
