New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has congratulated John Boadu and the other newly elected national executives following the party’s national executive elections in Kumasi.

The elections, held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 3, 2026, completed the party’s reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections. John Boadu was elected National Chairman, while Justin Frimpong Kodua retained the position of General Secretary.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Dr Bawumia described the exercise as peaceful and transparent, saying the outcome reflected the choice of NPP delegates.

He congratulated Boadu and all the newly elected executives, saying the new leadership now has the responsibility of beginning preparations for the party’s campaign towards the 2028 elections.

Dr Bawumia also pledged his support to the new executives, with an emphasis on inclusiveness and ensuring that the party draws on the experience and abilities of its members.

According to him, no member of the party should be excluded from the 2028 campaign, regardless of whether they won or lost in the national executive elections.

“In victory or in defeat, no talent should be left out in the 2028 campaign,” he said.

His comments come as the NPP shifts its focus from the internal elections to rebuilding its structures and preparing for the next general election. Boadu has similarly pledged to rebuild the party from the grassroots and strengthen its organisation ahead of 2028.

Dr Bawumia said he was ready to work with the new leadership to create an inclusive party structure capable of harnessing the strengths of members across the country.

The statement marks his first major response following the election and reinforces calls for unity within the party as the new executives begin their mandate.

Other messages from the party’s leadership and defeated aspirants have also stressed the need to put the internal contest behind them and work towards a common objective
