Liberian actor Frank Artus has announced his decision to leave the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), declaring that he will now operate independently.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, Artus said the decision followed “careful personal reflection” and was made consciously and independently.
He said he would no longer identify himself as a member, partisan, representative, stakeholder or affiliate of the CDC.
Artus, however, stressed that his decision should not be interpreted as an attack on any individual, leader, supporter or institution associated with the party.
He expressed gratitude for the relationships and experiences he gained over the years, while maintaining that he respects the people he worked and interacted with during his time with the political movement.
The actor also sought to clarify the status of his previous political appearances and activities, saying past photographs, statements, awards, programmes and other associations with the CDC or any political organisation should be viewed strictly within their historical context.
Artus further asked that his name, image or identity not be used to suggest that he represents, endorses or speaks on behalf of the CDC or any other political party without his express authorisation.
Despite his political departure, the actor said his commitment to Liberia remains unchanged.
He described himself as a Liberian who loves his country and wants to see peace, unity, development and opportunities for all Liberians.
