New Patriotic Party (NPP) First Vice Chairman hopeful, Henry Nana Boakye, says his 26 years of involvement in the party have equipped him with the experience and skills needed to help rebuild the party and return it to power in 2028.
He said his long service within the NPP, including his participation in various committees and exposure to the party’s internal structures, gives him an understanding of what has worked and what needs to change.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr Nana Boakye said he was prepared to bring his organisational, mobilisation and communication skills to bear if elected.
“The party has invested in me for 26 years. I have risen through the ranks, and I have served on several committees. I know the things the party has done that have worked and those that haven’t,” he said.
He argued that all party members have a responsibility to ensure that competent and experienced leaders are elected to steer the NPP towards victory in the 2028 general elections.
Mr Nana Boakye said his experience across the party’s structures had prepared him to serve as an all-round First Vice Chairman capable of addressing different organisational needs.
According to him, the position requires a leader with strong organisational and mobilisation skills, an understanding of youth concerns and the ability to communicate effectively with party members and the public.
“We are going to need bold, fearless and experienced leaders in 2028,” he said.
Mr Nana Boakye expressed confidence in his credentials, describing himself as the most experienced candidate in the race in terms of knowledge of the party’s structures.
“I’m bold to say that I’m the most experienced person among all the candidates in terms of party structure, and I am the potential First Vice Chairman to lead the NPP,” he said.
He also called on party members to put past disagreements behind them and work towards a common goal ahead of the next general election.
Mr Nana Boakye said unity and forgiveness would be crucial to rebuilding confidence within the party and strengthening its chances in 2028.
“We should forgive each other in the party and focus on the task ahead, which is to win the 2028 general elections,” he added.
