Some commercial drivers at the Dansoman lorry station are calling for intensified public education on TraffiTech GH, saying many road users still do not fully understand the new road traffic enforcement system.
According to them, they haven’t received any information about the initiative and the regulations that will be enforced under it.
The drivers said the decision by the Ghana Police Service to postpone the implementation date is welcome but argued that the one-month extension may not be enough to adequately educate motorists and the general public.
Speaking to Prince Owusu Asiedu on Adom Trotro, they said authorities should use the period to engage transport operators, answer questions and explain how the system will work before enforcement begins.
The concerns come after the Ghana Police Service announced that the full implementation of TraffiTech GH has been rescheduled from October 1 to November 1, 2026.
In a statement, the Police said the decision followed consultations with key stakeholders and was intended to allow for broader public engagement and education on the initiative. The Service said the additional time would be used to increase awareness and ensure motorists and road users are adequately informed before enforcement begins.
TraffiTech GH is a technology-driven road traffic management system designed to support the enforcement of road traffic regulations through automated monitoring. The system is expected to help detect traffic offences, improve compliance with road safety rules and contribute to efforts aimed at reducing road crashes across the country.
