Telecommunication services have been disrupted across Ghana’s five northern regions and parts of the Oti Region following multiple fibre cuts on key transmission routes.
The National Communications Authority (NCA), in a statement issued on Saturday, September 26, said the damage had affected three separate fibre routes carrying telecommunications capacity to the affected areas.
The disruption has triggered outages and significant deterioration in voice and data services across 2G, 3G and 4G networks, with a substantial number of network sites affected.
In response, technical teams from the affected telecommunications operators, together with the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), have been dispatched to the damaged routes to begin restoration work.
The NCA said repairs are ongoing and that it is working closely with the network operators and relevant agencies to speed up the recovery of services.
The Authority has apologised to consumers in the affected regions for the inconvenience and said further updates will be issued as restoration efforts continue.
