Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz believes Ghana are on equal footing with Côte d’Ivoire as they prepare to begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Ghana, who failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, open their Group C campaign with a tough away fixture against Côte d’Ivoire at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké on 24 September.
Speaking to the media in Accra after his reappointment, the veteran Portuguese coach said he expects an evenly matched contest.
“They are as good as us, so it will be 50-50,” Queiroz said.
“They are good, we are good. Let’s see on the day who can play the best football.”
The Black Stars will then return home to face The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on 27 September as Queiroz looks to make a strong start in the qualifiers.
Ghana will conclude the international window with a high-profile friendly against Morocco at the Grand Stade de Tanger on 4 October.
