Pupils of Tokwai Methodist Primary School in the Asante Akyem South Municipality now have a new three-unit classroom block, after years of sitting three or four to a desk.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Maame Sarfoa Appiah, commissioned the facility on behalf of the Asante Akyem South Assembly.
The project also includes a headmaster’s office, a staff common room, a store room and a toilet facility.
The MCE told Adom News that the Assembly paid for the project from the Common Fund, and that it is willing to support the education sector.
Adom News correspondent Isaac Amoako first reported on the school’s conditions about five years ago, when he found three or four pupils squeezing into a desk during lessons because there were not enough classrooms.
The Headmaster, Raphael Ansah, told Adom News then that the lack of classrooms was his main challenge, and he appealed to the government, stakeholders and benevolent organisations for a decent, modern classroom block.
After the commissioning, Mr Ansah thanked Adom News for its report and the government for its support.
Kwabena Nkansah Eduful, a former Assembly Member for the Tokwai electoral area, also thanked Adom News for its coverage.
