The Ghana Education Service (GES) has clarified that it has not sanctioned, instructed or directed parents and students to pay money or purchase prospectus items from any specific individual, shop or supplier.
According to the Service, parents and students are free to procure items listed in school prospectuses from the open market.
The GES explained that the procurement of prospectus items from the open market is a long-standing practice and remains unchanged.
The clarification is intended to dispel any impression that parents or students have been directed to purchase school supplies from particular vendors or locations.
“The GES has not sanctioned, asked or directed, parents and students to pay monies or purchase items from any specific place or person,” the Service stated.
It further explained that prospectus items are procured through the open market, stressing that there has been no change to that arrangement.
“Prospectus items are procured in the open market. And that long-standing practice remains unchanged,” the GES added.
The Service has therefore urged parents and students to take note of the clarification when making arrangements to acquire items required for the upcoming academic year.
