Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to arrive in Ghana this week ahead of the start of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The 73-year-old has been reappointed after guiding Ghana to the knockout stage of the 2026 World Cup on a short-term contract, although the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has yet to announce the details of his new deal.
Queiroz became the first coach to lead the Black Stars into the World Cup knockout rounds since 2010 during the tournament in North America.
The former Egypt and Colombia manager is expected to be reintroduced to Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams upon his arrival before meeting the media.
It is understood the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation have agreed on a one-year contract, with the possibility of an extension if Queiroz secures qualification for the 2027 AFCON.
His immediate focus will be Ghana’s qualifying campaign, which begins later this month.
The Black Stars travel to Bouaké to face Côte d’Ivoire at the Stade de la Paix on 24 September before hosting The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium three days later.
After failing to qualify for the previous AFCON in Morocco, Ghana will be aiming to make an immediate return to Africa’s biggest football tournament.
