President John Dramani Mahama has cautioned Ministers, Chief Executives and other government appointees to uphold discipline, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

The President’s warning comes amid recent changes in his administration, including ministerial reshuffles, the dissolution of some boards and plans to reorganise the leadership of selected state institutions.

In a statement issued by the Executive Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, the Presidency said the changes were part of efforts to strengthen leadership, improve coordination and ensure that government appointees remained focused on the administration’s policies and priorities.

President Mahama expects Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Chief Executives, board members and other political appointees to perform their duties with integrity, diligence and humility while adhering to established administrative procedures.

The Presidency stressed that actions or conduct capable of weakening government cohesion, undermining institutional authority or obstructing the implementation of government policies would not be accepted.

It reminded appointees that holding public office is a privilege and comes with the responsibility of serving the interests of the Ghanaian people.

The statement further indicated that the performance of government appointees would continue to be reviewed across all sectors.

According to the Presidency, the President is prepared to take additional measures whenever necessary to protect the effectiveness, integrity and responsiveness of his administration.

“The President will take any further action necessary to safeguard the integrity, effectiveness and responsiveness of his Administration,” the statement said.

The Presidency has consequently urged all government appointees to work together, respect institutional processes and remain committed to delivering on the government’s mandate.
