Heads of second-cycle institutions in the Volta Region are calling for a review of the code of conduct governing students in Senior High Schools (SHSs) to improve discipline and address growing concerns over student misconduct.
They believe a review of the existing rules, and stronger enforcement, will allow schools to respond to disciplinary challenges more effectively and create a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
Speaking on infrastructure challenges confronting second-cycle institutions in the region, the National Vice President of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), Togbe Foe Tsali, said lack of adequate infrastructure continues to affect teaching and learning.
He further stated maintaining existing infrastructure was a difficult task for schools, calling on government and other stakeholders to help address the challenges.
“Maintenance of infrastructure has become a problem. We hope that through this training we have participated in, we can look at how best we can provide solutions to the problems before we even reach out to the authorities,” he said.
