Hearts of Oak have withdrawn from the 2026 Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top-4 Tournament, citing scheduling conflicts and concerns over their preparations for the new Ghana Premier League season.
The Accra-based club confirmed the decision in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, saying the tournament dates clash with programmes already arranged by the club.
Hearts also raised concerns about the competition being scheduled close to the start of the new league campaign, arguing that participating could interfere with their preparations and other commitments.
The Phobians said they had previously engaged GHALCA and requested a change to the tournament dates to allow them to participate.
However, according to the club, the discussions did not result in any changes to the schedule.
“After careful consideration, the Club has therefore decided that withdrawing from the tournament is the most appropriate course of action at this time,” Hearts of Oak said in the statement.
The club thanked GHALCA for its efforts in organising the competition and wished the association and the remaining participating clubs a successful tournament.
Hearts of Oak also stressed that the decision would not affect their relationship with GHALCA, reaffirming their commitment to continued cooperation with the association and the wider Ghanaian football community.
The withdrawal means the 2026 GHALCA Top-4 Tournament will proceed without one of Ghana’s most prominent clubs, with Hearts instead turning their attention to preparations for the upcoming league season.
