The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has rejected claims that the institution has suffered financial losses, insisting that its records show otherwise.

Mr Gyamfi said GoldBod’s financial position could be verified through its audited financial statements, which he believes would stand up to scrutiny from both local and international institutions.

He maintained that the institution was being managed carefully and that its operations had remained financially sound since it assumed its expanded role in Ghana’s gold sector.

Speaking on Twitter Spaces on Sunday, August 9, Mr Gyamfi said, “Nobody can ever say that GoldBod has made a loss, including the IMF.”

He added, “Those who wish us doom will be put to shame,” stressing that GoldBod’s financial records would ultimately settle any questions about its performance.

Mr Gyamfi had previously stated that GoldBod had never recorded a loss and that its audited financial statements were available on the institution’s website.

He also maintained that the institution was being managed with “modesty and prudence” as it takes on greater responsibility for Ghana’s gold trade.
