Krachi West Municipality in the Oti Region is witnessing significant infrastructure development under the leadership of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Prosper Addo, who has been in office for about a year.

Since assuming office, Mr Addo has overseen projects spanning education, healthcare, security, water supply, electrification and community development, with the aim of improving access to essential services and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

Education has been one of the municipality’s key priorities, with several classroom projects completed or currently under construction.

These include three-unit classroom blocks at Kpollo, Matekope, Ehiamankyene and Old Worotor, where a kindergarten block has also been constructed. A six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities has also been completed at Gyengyen.

To improve teaching and learning, the Municipal Assembly has supplied schools with 830 mono desks, 163 hexagonal tables and 978 kindergarten chairs to address furniture shortages.

In the health sector, the assembly has expanded primary healthcare services through the construction of Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and nurses’ accommodation at Mpli, Dadekro, Nkyenenkyene and Kadentwen.

Some of the facilities have also been equipped with mechanised boreholes to improve access to clean water, enhance sanitation and encourage health workers to accept postings to remote communities.

Water and sanitation projects have also been undertaken, including the construction of mechanised boreholes at KTI, Sofoline and Gyanekrom, as well as drainage works and a hand-pump borehole at Gyanekrom.

To improve security, a new police station has been established at Ehiamankyene to strengthen law enforcement and public safety within the area.

The Municipal Assembly Hall in Kete Krachi is also being renovated, alongside the official residence of the Municipal Chief Executive.

In addition, work is ongoing on a durbar ground at Krachikrom to provide a suitable venue for community gatherings, cultural events and official functions.

Other development projects include rural electrification works at Chantai and Amewoyikope, as well as the construction of a one-storey guest house with ancillary facilities at Talawudu to support tourism and local economic development.

Residents who spoke to Adom News commended Mr Addo for what they described as visible development and a clear commitment to improving infrastructure across the municipality.

Many expressed optimism that the municipality is making steady progress through investments that are directly improving the lives of residents.

Mr Addo attributed the pace of development to effective collaboration with the Member of Parliament and other stakeholders.

He appealed to traditional leaders, community members and the youth to continue supporting the municipality’s development agenda, stressing that peace, unity and collective responsibility are essential to sustaining the progress being made.
