Former U.S. President Barack Obama has unveiled his highly anticipated 2026 Summer Playlist, serving fans another eclectic mix of songs spanning Afrobeats, R&B, hip-hop, soul, rock, jazz and gospel.
Sharing the playlist on social media, Obama revealed that this year’s selection opens with “Song of Good Hope” by Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard, whom he described as a musician he and former First Lady Michelle Obama deeply admired.
The 46-song playlistfeatures an impressive lineup of global stars, including Doechii, SZA, The Strokes, Coldplay, Marvin Gaye, Drake, Future, Johnny Cash, Damian Marley, Nas, Luther Vandross, The Police, Earth, Wind & Fire, A Tribe Called Quest, Neil Young, Sam & Dave and Tyla, who once again flies the African flag.
Despite Obama’s long-standing appreciation for African music, no Ghanaian artiste made this year’s coveted playlist, and just one African, Tyla.
