Ghanaian sprinter Benjamin Azamati placed seventh in the men’s 100m final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Tuesday, missing out on a medal after an impressive run in the championship race.
Azamati clocked a time of 10.11 seconds in the final, having booked his place by advancing as one of the fastest losers from the semifinals.
Cameroon’s reigning African champion Emmanuel Eseme powered to victory in dominant style, setting a new Commonwealth Games record of 9.83 seconds to claim the gold medal.
Australia’s Lachlan Kennedy finished second to take silver, while Nigeria’s Kayinsola Ajayi secured the bronze medal.
Despite missing the podium, Azamati’s appearance in the final marked another strong showing for Team Ghana at the Games.
Ghana’s focus now turns to the men’s 200m competition on Wednesday, where Joseph Paul Amoah, James Dadzie and Mustapha Bokpin will be looking to challenge for honours and boost the country’s medal prospects on the track.
