The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has safely removed and relocated a bee swarm from the Vakpo Secondary Technical School in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region after a student and a teacher were attacked and stung by the insects.

Both victims received medical attention following the incident.

According to the GNFS, personnel from the Anfoega Fire Station were dispatched to the school after receiving reports of the bee attack.

Preliminary assessments revealed that the swarm had been nesting in the ceiling of the girls’ dormitory for several years but became aggressive following weeding activities carried out around the area.

Firefighters successfully evacuated and relocated the bees, restoring safety to the affected section of the school.

The intervention helped prevent further attacks and allowed academic and other activities on the campus to continue without additional risks to students and staff.

The GNFS has advised school authorities and the general public to promptly report bee infestations to the Service for professional assistance.

It also urged institutions to restrict access to areas where bee swarms are detected and avoid disturbing them, stressing that early reporting and proper handling are key to preventing similar incidents.
