A section of the Accra-Kumasi Highway has been completely blocked following a crash involving a heavily loaded articulated truck at the Birimso Bridge on the N6 Highway.

The incident has disrupted traffic flow in both directions, leaving motorists travelling between Accra and Kumasi stranded as the affected section of the road remains impassable.

The Ghana Police Service, in a public notice, said officers from the Eastern South Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) in Kibi have been deployed to the scene to manage the situation and direct traffic.

The police indicated that temporary diversions have been introduced to ease congestion while efforts are underway to remove the truck and clear the highway.

According to the police, Accra-bound motorists have been diverted through Kibi at Nsutam, while those travelling towards Kumasi are being redirected through Apedwa.

The diversions took effect at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.

The police have urged motorists and other road users to use the alternative routes and cooperate with officers stationed at the affected areas to ensure smooth traffic management.
