President John Dramani Mahama on Monday, June 29, 2026, officially cut the sod for the construction of the Tema Integrated Industrial Park, describing it as a flagship initiative of his administration aimed at accelerating Ghana’s industrialisation drive.

The ceremony was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation, Yaw Twumasi Ankrah, among other dignitaries.

The industrial park is being developed through a partnership between GIADEC, Arise Integrated Industrial Platforms (Arise IIP), one of Africa’s leading industrial zone developers, and Tema Development Corporation (TDC) Ltd.

Speaking at the event, President Mahama emphasised the project’s strategic importance in transforming Tema into a modern industrial hub and creating significant employment opportunities.
The Tema Integrated Industrial Park forms part of the government’s broader vision to promote value addition, attract foreign investment, and boost Ghana’s manufacturing sector under the 24-Hour Economy policy.

The project is expected to generate approximately 6,000 direct and indirect jobs while strengthening Ghana’s position as a key industrial player in West Africa.
This latest development adds to several industrialisation efforts by the Mahama administration, building on earlier initiatives to revive and expand key sectors such as aluminium, steel, and agro-processing.

The park is anticipated to house various industries, with a strong focus on leveraging Ghana’s natural resources for downstream manufacturing and export.

Construction is expected to begin immediately, with the first phase targeting completion within the next 24 to 36 months.
