At least 15 children and an infant have been rescued by boat at Tse Addo in Accra following heavy rains that triggered severe flooding on Monday, June 29.
The rescue operation was carried out after rising floodwaters cut off parts of the community, leaving residents stranded and unable to safely move to higher ground.
Eyewitnesses say emergency responders and local volunteers used boats to evacuate the children and the months-old baby to safer locations as water levels continued to rise.
The incident comes amid persistent rainfall across the Greater Accra Region, which has led to widespread flooding, disrupted movement, and raised safety concerns in several low-lying communities.
Authorities are yet to provide full details on the condition of the rescued individuals, but residents have been urged to remain cautious and avoid flood-prone routes as the rains continue.
