A total of 75 young men and women in Agbakorfe, a suburb of the South Tongu District in the Volta Region, have graduated from a green business and entrepreneurship training programme aimed at creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and tackling youth unemployment.

The beneficiaries received practical training in beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, and snail farming. Upon completion of the programme, they were also provided with start-up equipment to help them establish and manage their own businesses.

The initiative was implemented by the non-governmental organisation Write for World as part of efforts to equip young people with employable skills while promoting environmentally friendly economic activities.

Speaking to Adom News at the graduation ceremony, the Administrator of Write for World, Milliam Esenam Donkor, said the organisation remains committed to empowering young people through skills development and entrepreneurship.

According to her, the programme was designed to address the growing unemployment challenge by introducing participants to viable green business ventures with strong potential for growth and income generation.

She urged the graduates to make good use of the knowledge and skills acquired during the training and work towards becoming self-reliant in their communities.

Ms. Donkor also encouraged them to remain focused, innovative, and committed to environmental sustainability as they begin their entrepreneurial journeys.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Write for World for the opportunity, describing the training as timely and life-changing. They pledged to apply the skills gained to establish successful businesses and contribute to the economic development of their communities.

Some participants noted that the start-up equipment provided would ease the burden of setting up their businesses and enable them to begin operations immediately.

The programme forms part of broader efforts to promote green entrepreneurship among young people, strengthen economic resilience, and support sustainable community development in the South Tongu District.
