A total of 1,283 residents in the Ahafo Region have successfully received their passports within six months of the establishment of the Goaso Passport Application Centre, according to officials of the facility.
The Officer-in-Charge of the centre, Christiana Deladem Afagbedzi, disclosed that as of June 10, 2026, the centre had received 1,485 passport applications since its commissioning on December 31, 2025.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News in Goaso, she explained that out of the total applications received, 1,283 had been fully processed and delivered to applicants.
According to her, an additional 126 applications are currently being processed and will be issued to applicants once the necessary procedures are completed.
She further revealed that 76 applications are yet to be worked on, indicating that processing on those applications has not commenced.
Mrs. Afagbedzi noted that the centre is receiving fewer applications than initially projected, attributing the situation largely to documentation challenges faced by prospective applicants.
She explained that many applicants are unable to complete the application process due to difficulties in obtaining the required supporting documents.
However, she expressed optimism that ongoing public education and awareness campaigns would help address the challenge over time.
According to her, as residents become more familiar with the documentation requirements and application procedures, the number of successful applications is expected to increase.
The Goaso Passport Application Centre was established to improve access to passport services for residents of the Ahafo Region and reduce the need for applicants to travel long distances to other regions to secure travel documents.
