A resident of Tema Community 25 in the Savannah Junction area near New Dawhenya, Janet Baidoo, says some affected residents have collapsed and been hospitalised following the demolition exercise carried out over a disputed land.
She described the situation as traumatic, saying many families were overwhelmed by the destruction of their homes.
“When this demolition happened, we are asking ourselves if we indeed have leaders in this country,” she said.
She added that some victims could not cope with the emotional and physical impact of the incident.
“If you are in a country and you don’t have anybody to speak for you, they will just trample on you. Some of the victims have collapsed and are in hospital because they cannot handle the pain and damage that has been done,” she told Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem.
Her comments come after residents of Community 25 were evicted following the enforcement of a court ruling by a developer claiming ownership of the disputed land.
