Teachers at the Kobedi AME Zion Primary and Junior High School in the Sunyani West Municipality have indefinitely suspended academic activities following the sudden death of the school’s head teacher and another colleague, amid fears linked to an alleged curse.

According to Crime Check Ghana, the boycott has left pupils stranded, with many seen roaming the community during school hours as classrooms remain locked.

The head teacher, Madam Gladys Dorlo Batinge, and another teacher reportedly died under sudden circumstances, triggering tension and fear within the school community.

Residents, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Crime Check that the deaths were being linked to an alleged curse said to have been invoked by a student over accusations of extortion involving some school authorities.

A community member claimed that fears surrounding a local deity associated with the alleged curse had heightened anxiety among staff, contributing to the decision by teachers to stay away from the school.

A teacher at the school confirmed to Crime Check that staff had collectively resolved not to return to the classroom until the alleged curse is revoked, effectively halting teaching and learning activities.

A visit to the school community near Chiraa revealed empty classrooms and no sign of academic activity.

The situation has sparked concern among parents and residents, who are calling for calm and urgent intervention to restore normal school operations.
