2024/26 GHPL MD30 wrap: Chelsea stun Medeama as Hearts of Oak held by Karela

The outstanding Matchday 30 fixtures of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League were completed on Wednesday, May 6, across various venues, producing key results at both ends of the table.

At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea boosted their survival hopes with a gritty 2-1 victory over league leaders Medeama SC. Kelvin Nkrumah gave the visitors an early lead in the 12th minute before Seidu Abubakar restored parity six minutes later, sending both sides into the break level at 1-1. After the restart, Jonah Attuquaye struck in the 66th minute to secure a crucial win for Chelsea.

At Dun’s Park, Bibiani Gold Stars returned to winning form with a 2-0 triumph over FC Samartex. Michael Nkoah scored a first-half brace that proved decisive as Gold Stars consolidated their position near the top of the table.

Hearts of Oak were held to a goalless draw by Karela United at the Accra Sports Stadium, dropping valuable points in their pursuit of the league’s upper ranks.

At the Swedru Stadium, All Blacks delivered a dominant 5-2 win over struggling Eleven Wonders. Frank Awere opened the scoring in the 9th minute and Rudolf Mensah doubled the lead in the 24th. Awere later completed his brace early in the second half. Although Eden Kofi Asamoah pulled one back for Wonders, Hafiz Alhassan’s double and an additional strike from Emmanuel Boateng sealed a heavy defeat for the visitors.

Young Apostles produced one of the day’s surprises with a 3-1 win over Vision FC at the Wenchi Stadium. Samuel Prempeh and Richmond Opoku gave the hosts a 2-0 halftime lead. Vision FC responded through Ruben Quaye after the break, but Samuel Amankwah ensured victory with a late strike.

At the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, Dreams FC edged Bechem United 2-1. Mohammed Shaban Nazir opened the scoring in the 14th minute, but Bechem equalised before halftime. Abdul Razak Salifu netted the winner in the 58th minute to secure all three points for Dreams.

Basake Holy Stars pulled off a notable 2-0 win over Aduana FC at the AAK II Park, with goals from Jacob Boazee and Prince Tweneboah in each half.

At Kpando Sports Stadium, Nations FC claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Heart of Lions, courtesy of Kelvin Ampofo’s first-half goal.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko were awarded three points and three goals following Hohoe United’s decision to withdraw from the league.

After the round of fixtures, Medeama SC remain at the summit, followed closely by Bibiani Gold Stars, Hearts of Oak and FC Samartex in the top four. At the other end, Vision FC, Hohoe United and Eleven Wonders continue to battle in the relegation zone.
