The Linda Ocloo has apologised over comments captured in a widely circulated video in which she appeared to suggest that postings to northern Ghana could be seen as a form of punishment.

In a statement, she described the remark as a genuine slip of the tongue, stressing that it does not reflect her true views or the established policies guiding staff postings within the Public Service.

She explained that her comment came in response to a media question about concerns that some technocrats accused of issuing development permits without due process are sometimes reassigned to nearby districts, allowing such practices to persist.

According to her, she was referring to cases where some individuals are posted to areas far from their usual places of residence. However, she acknowledged that her choice of words created an unintended impression that such postings were punitive.

“I sincerely acknowledge the concerns that this has generated and offer my unreserved apology to all Ghanaians, especially my brothers and sisters in the Northern Regions, for any misunderstanding, offence, or discomfort caused,” she said.

Madam Ocloo noted that she holds the highest regard for due process, equity, and professionalism in public service.

She also reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that all administrative decisions, including staff postings and transfers, are carried out strictly in line with laid-down rules and regulations, without prejudice.

“I deeply value the trust reposed in me and remain dedicated to serving the people of the Greater Accra Region with integrity, fairness, and accountability,” she added.

She urged the public to consider the matter clarified.
