Kwasi Azor, Eastern Regional Correspondent for Adom News, has been honoured for his exceptional rural reportage at the 5th Edition of the Diamond Excellence Awards (DEA), organised by Danny’s Entertainment.
The ceremony took place at Akyem Kade in the Eastern Region.

Azor was recognised for his outstanding contributions to rural journalism, which have helped drive positive change in underserved communities. His reporting, which focuses on key social issues in rural areas, has earned him praise from colleagues and the public alike.
During the event, he received a citation, a plaque, a medal and a diamond award in recognition of his impact and commitment to giving voice to rural challenges.

Organisers of the event, Danny’s Entertainment, stressed the importance of celebrating achievers while they are still alive. The CEO, Daniel Walker, noted that many people are often honoured posthumously and called for a change in that approach.
In his acceptance speech, Azor expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to impactful journalism. He also appealed to government and stakeholders to provide more support to media houses, especially those operating in rural areas, including dedicated funding to strengthen their work.

The Diamond Excellence Awards continues to grow as a platform for recognising individuals and organisations contributing meaningfully to national development, particularly in communities that often receive limited attention.

Azor’s recognition adds to his growing reputation as one of the journalists championing rural development issues through consistent and impactful storytelling.
